I am Dr. Kevin Miller.
My aim is to help people live life more fully with a sense of peace and
joy.
I work with youth, adults, couples and groups dealing with a wide range of emotional,
behavioural, cognitive and social issues. My special interest is working with trauma and its
effects including emotional dysregulation, addiction, relationship conflict, family dysfunction
and chronic pain using Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ®.
I am the founder of Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ® (MBA Therapy) which integrates the traditional interpersonal therapies of pioneers such as Bowlby with current neurobiological approaches influenced by Schore and Levine and ancient practices of mindfulness. MBA Therapy effectively addresses the unconsciously held dysfunctions from trauma histories to facilitate neurological and functional healing. I have taught this integrative method to numerous professionals and university students and continue to consult with and supervise therapists and students.
I obtained my doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Surrey, UK. My doctoral research focused on investigating the role of psychological mindedness in addiction treatment, and outcome monitoring for addiction intervention. After working for several years as a Chartered Psychologist in the UK National Health Service I moved to Canada where I have worked as a Registered Psychologist in both Adult Mental Health, and Youth Addiction settings.
I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of BC, a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (UK), a member of the BC Psychological Association, and a qualified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with the SE Trauma Institute Colorado.
